Usually women are back to being fully fertile within three months of discontinuing birth control pills. Of course this varies, as some women need up to six months to regulate their cycles, while others get pregnant as soon as they stop taking the pill. Many doctors suggest waiting from one to three months before trying to have a baby. Don't worry if you get pregnant right after discontinuing the pill. There are no known negative effects (i.e. birth defects) associated with becoming pregnant too soon after discontinuing birth control pills.
