If you don't have enough external mucus to make an accurate observation, you can check it internally. Insert two clean fingers deep enough into the vagina to touch your cervix. Collect mucus from around the cervix, remove your fingers, and spread them out before making the observation. If inserting two fingers into your vagina feels uncomfortable, try using one finger. Regardless of the method you choose, remember to follow the simple rules of mucus observation (How do I check my cervical mucus).
